Jurong Crocodile Paradise

The Night Safari

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
Singapore is one of only two cities in the world to have a significant area of primary rainforest within its boundaries — the other being Rio de Janeiro. This 81-hectare reserve, only 12 kilometre from the city centre, contains more species of plants than the entire North American continent. At the head of the reserve lies Singapore’s highest point — Bukit Timah Hill at 162.5 metres above sea level. Well marked paths lead through the jungle. Along the way, walkers can enjoy exotic birds, butterflies, inquisitive monkeys. squirrels, flying lemurs and other wildlife. The nature reserve is open daily.
Mandai Orchid Gardens
The blooms here at Singapore’s largest commercial orchid garden provide a colourful display all year round. The garden is conveniently located right next to the zoo, and a whole hillside is covered in orchids.

There's plenty for nature lovers too- a butterfly Park which is home to 2,500 live butterflies from over 50 species and nature walk that leads through lush jungle to the summit of Mount Imbiah, from where Singapore’s neighbouring islands can be seen. Underwater World, Asia’s largest tropical oceanarium, is a treat not to be missed. It houses over 2,000 species of fish and has a submerged perspex walkway which allows visitors to pass safely under the water within inches of sharks, stingrays and moray eels. And making its imperial appearance for the first time in Singapore is the Weedy Seadragon, a marine fish that resembles the mythical majestic dragons in Chinese folklore.
Cool off at Fantasy Island, Sentosa's spectacular new water theme park. Developed at a cost of over $50 million, Fantasy Island boasts 13 different funfilled water rides a mind boggling 31 different water slides as well as three activity pools (one for adults, two for children), a state-of-the-art "interactive experiential theatre" and an Entertainment Mall with unique themed restaurants.
A spectacular multisensory experience awaits visitors at Sentosa’s Volcano-Lard. Budding explorers will discover aspects of the extinct Mayan civilization, fossils, archaeological digs and a "pit cage" to transport them to the very heart of the "volcano". Watch out for the half-hourly eruptions 0f "the world’s most active volcano" as the power of ancient geological forces produce a 30-metre column of smoke that can even be seen from the World Trade Centre.

Raffles Hotel
One of the most famous hotels in the world, this Grand Old Lady of the East is fully restored to her former glory after an extensive $160 million restoration. Down the years, royalty, film stars, world leaders and famous authors have stayed at Raffles — one of the last great 19th century hotels. The refurbished complex includes a Shopping Arcade with 70 shops, a museum showing Raffles memorabilia and a theatre featuring a multimedia show on the hotel’s distinguished past.
Singapore Art Museum
The Singapore Art Museum at Bras Basah Road, near the National Museum, is housed in a beautifully restored school building, the former St. .Joseph's Institution, the first Catholic school established in Singapore. Newly opened, it is Singapore’s national art gallery and showcases 20th century art practices in Singapore and Southeast Asia. One of the main attractions of the new museum is the E-mage Gallery which Features interactive programmes involving 20th century Southeast Asian art on large high definition visual monitors. Allow one hour.
Haw Par Villa
Formerly known as Tiger Balm Gardens, Haw Par Villa is famous for its colourful statues depicting Chinese mythology. Here a multi-media show unveils the richness and diversity of Chinese culture and folklore. You can go on the Wrath of the Water Gods flume ride, encounter mythological spirits, or watch a three-dimensional show on the Creation of the World, as Chinese legend would have it.
Merlion and Merlion Park
The tourism symbol of Singapore, the Merlion is a mythical beast, said to be half lion, half fish. The eight-metre high Merlion statue stands guard at the mouth of the Singapore River.
